RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as member of the Human Resources Committee and oversees all practices, policies and procedures involving the operations and human resources functions of the firm to promote a clear communication system between staff and Partners/management.
  • Prepare Partner Group meeting agenda.  Attend and lead meetings to ensure time efficiency.
  • Works directly with Partners and Managers involving many facets of the firm ranging from pay raises and bonuses to corporate events and crisis management.
  • Supervises and oversees the entire administrative department and all of its duties (see administrative job descriptions).
  • Drafts and/or approves internal memoranda.
  • Works directly with firm Controller regarding various financial aspects of the firm including budgeting, 401(k) matters, Administration, salary/bill rates, etc.
  • Monitors personnel evaluation system and provides guidance through the firm mentorship program. Provide informal leadership and mentorship to firm Managers and staff.
  • Where necessary, reviews technical and HR related matters with appropriate personnel including but not limited to counseling, discipline, performance evaluations and incident investigations.
  • Foster firm culture in order to maintain positive corporate climate and employee morale.  Provide Partner group with recommendations to proactively change policy to improve culture and become pioneers of employee retention.
  • In charge of high level company projects such as: software conversions, new policies and procedures, new systems, office space build-out, office moves, identity theft/fraud, insurance claims, etc.
  • Negotiates contracts with vendors of various types from benefits to leasing agreements in order to provide maximum benefits at the lowest cost and ensure that our actions reflect the terms of the agreement.
  • Research new ideas to present to the Partners in order to streamline company procedures and improve time and cost efficiency for the firm as a whole.
  • Communicates directly and manages company relationships with attorneys, brokers, property management, recruiters and other executive level business partners.
  • Negotiates firm insurance policies; E&O, BOP, W.C, EPL, etc and makes recommendations for new coverage options.
  • Prepare and participate in numerous surveys such as SoCal Comp & Benefits, MPRT and Best Firms in an effort to find way to improve the function and progress of the firm.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  • 10+ years of experience in positions directly related to operations and human resources.
  • Experience working in a leadership role in a CPA or professional service environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office programs: Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge and use of industry-related programs desired.
  • Ability to multi-task is essential, excellent communication skills are necessary, and must work collaboratively with the Human Resources Department.
  • Travel between our Los Angeles and San Diego offices required
  • Overtime hours may be required.
